Adhiyamaan College of Agriculture and Research is run by AERI Trust (Adhiyamaan Educational & Research Institutions, Chennai) established during the year 1986. For more than three decades, AERI Trust is doing very good service to the mankind, in the field of Education for the upliftment of student community of Krishnagiri District.

Honourable Dr. M. Thambidurai, Member of Rajya Sabha, Former Deputy Speaker (Lok Sabha) is the founder chairman for the AERI Trust. Presently, Dr. Banumathi Thambidurai, MBBS., DGO., is the Chairperson. The Trust is well managed by a board of Trustees who are having rich experience in various levels of education.

This trust is running various educational institutions and is offering Undergraduate, Postgraduate, M.Phil & Ph.D., degrees in the field of Engineering, Architecture, Management, Arts & Science, Education & Law and also offering School Education from Pre KG to +2, both under Matriculation & CBSE stream in various parts of the district. More than 40000 students are studying in these institutions. The latest addition to AERI is ACAR in the field of Agriculture.

The reason for selecting Athimugam for establishing the Agricultural College is to nurture Agriculture Education to downtrodden people of Krishnagiri District. This area is famous for crops like Mango, Horticulture crops including cut flowers.

About ACAR

Agriculture constitutes a large share of national GDP, employs a majority of the labour force and forms an integral part of national development. Agricultural growth is an important step towards national economic development and transformation. However, the new challenges facing Indian agriculture in today’s globalized market are many like climate resilient, eco-friendly agriculture, besides quality produce.

The three-fold objective of ACAR is to impart knowledge to students in different branches of agriculture, horticulture and allied sciences, to encourage research in agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, floriculture and allied sciences and to extend the findings of research from lab to land.
To encourage and promote scientific growing of crops in agriculture and horticulture among farmers of this region.
To enhance the production, improve nutritional security and income to the marginal and small farmers.
To create opportunities for employment generation for skilled and unskilled persons, especially for unemployed youth.
To create awareness among the farmers on the adoption of farm machinery and the need for conserving soil and water.
To achieve the ambitious goal of harnessing the entire rainwater and use it for groundwater recharge and also arresting the soil erosion completely.

UNIQUE FEATURES OF COLLEGE

Location

The College is located at Athimugam Village, Shoolagiri Taluk, Krishnagiri District. The Institution is well connected with roads and three major Railway Junctions viz., Hosur, Jolarpet and Bangalore. Bangalore International Airport is situated about 50 Kms. from the college. The college is surrounded by various industries such as Ashok Leyland, TVS group of companies, TITAN, Hindustan Motors, Hindustan Power Plus, BATA, Brooks Bond, 20 Micron, Global Calcium, besides, more than 2000 small and medium scale industries.

Land Use Pattern

The entire campus is landscaped with academic blocks, dry land, wet land, garden land, orchard, botanical garden, herbal garden, experimental fields, field laboratories, green house, poly house, mist chamber, nursery area, open spaces, play grounds, cattle farm, well planned main road and connecting link roads, parking area and other facilities with evenly spaced out buildings.

Buildings and Facilities in the Campus

The design of the college building has taken into account the need for providing all the required amenities and infrastructural requirements. The institute’s building have proper ventilation, natural lighting during daytime and has been designed and modelled on inputs taken from leading Institutions and colleges across the globe. Modern construction methods with quality construction materials were used in the building. Lighting and internal illumination of class rooms and seminar halls has been designed with modern lighting systems and quality electrical materials.

Infrastructure

The campus has all the facilities required for better living with good ambience for studies and staying fit. Further, there are well qualified faculties, well equipped laboratories, class rooms, tutorial rooms, field laboratories, extension centers, canteen, transportation, farmer’s hospital, play areas, student’s cafeteria, various student services and other necessary amenities are also available. The Built-up area per student is 40 Sq.Ft.

This institute is well located in the hotspot of Agriculture and Horticulture with a total area of 121.75 acres, well planned and established perfectly according to the norms of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.
